6 Warning Signs of Sewer Line Trouble
Main line problems usually give warnings before a full backup. Here is what to watch for.
Request a plumber1. Several slow drains
If sinks, tubs and toilets are all slow, the blockage is likely in the main line.
2. Gurgling
Gurgling toilets or drains when other fixtures run.
3. Water in odd places
Water coming up in a tub or floor drain when the toilet flushes or the washer drains.
4. Sewage smells
Smells indoors or near the cleanout.
5. Very green patches
Lush patches of lawn over the line can mean a leak.
6. Older lines
Older clay and cast-iron lines are more likely to crack or let roots in. See sewer and drain lines.
