Ask about certification

Ask whether the plumber holds a BC trade certificate or Red Seal, and whether the business carries liability insurance.

Water heaters, gas lines and other gas appliances must be handled by a certified gas fitter. Ask whether a permit will be taken out.

Ask what is included — parts, labour and any permit — before work starts.

Ask what the warranty covers on parts and on the work itself.

For non-urgent jobs, it is fine to get more than one opinion.
